2nd National Conference of Tamil Nadu Statistical Association (TNSA)
The 2nd National Conference of Tamil Nadu Statistical Association (TNSA) was held at ICMR- National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT), during 17th -18th March 2023 with active participation of faculties, researchers and students working in the area of Statistics. The conference with the theme “Statistical Challenges in Big Data Analysis” was organized by the Dept. of Statistics, ICMR-NIRT. The organizing team was led by Dr.C.Ponnuraja as Organizing Secretary, Dr. Adhin Bhaskar as Joint Organizing Secretary and Mr. S. Padmanaban as Treasurer. Professor Dr. V.G. Kaliaperumal (Dept. of Statistics, NIMANS, Bengaluru, Retired) was the Guest of Honor of the conference. The conference felicitated senior and retired faculties who have given significant contribution to the domain of Statistics. More than 70 scientific papers were presented in the two days conference in ten scientific sessions. The conference was also having many invited talks on machine learning and big data analysis given by Dr. P. Venkatesan, Prof. K.Senthamarai Kannan, Prof. L. Jayaseelan, Dr. C. Muthu and Dr. C. Ponnuraja. More than 170 delegates attended the conference from various regions of India. Dr. P. Venkatesan (Scientist F and Head, ICMR-NIRT Retired) as the President, Prof. R. Ravanan (Joint Director, Collegiate Education, Chennai) as the General Secretary and Dr. N. Viswanathan (Associate Prof & Head, Department of Statistics, Presidency College, Chennai) as the Treasurer are the Office Bearers of the Tamil Nadu Statistical Association.
