68th Annual Day Celebrations
ICMR-NIRT celebrated its 68th Annual Day on 20th August, 2024. Dr Asha Frederick, Additional Director of Medical and Rural Health Services and State TB Officer at the Dept. of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Tamil Nadu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She delivered the keynote address and honoured fourteen staff members who had completed 25 years of dedicated service at ICMR-NIRT. The nursing staff of the Govt. Hospital of Thoracic Medicine, Tambaram were recognized for their consistent support for the "Wings of Support", an initiative of NIRT to provide psychosocial support for the persons with TB and their caregivers. In addition, the "United Way of Chennai" was felicitated for their philanthropic endeavours in providing nutritional supplements through the Nikshay Mitra initiative. Mr. Anbalagan S. (Technical Officer) and Mr. Krishna Kumar H. (Private Secretary) were bestowed with “Best Performers” award in recognition of their exceptional dedication, skills, and sincerity towards work. Dr Manoj Murhekar, Director (Addl. Charge), expressed his appreciation for the work that NIRT has accomplished in the past year and put forward a course of action for the future. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. Leeberk Raja, Scientist-E and Chair of the Annual Day Celebration Committee, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Velmurugan, Assistant.
