69th Annual Day Celebrations of ICMR-NIRT
ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT) marked its 69th Annual Day on 13th August, 2025, with a celebration that highlighted the institute's commitment to tuberculosis research and elimination. Dr. Srinath Satyanarayana, Director of ICMR-NIRT, presided over the function, which was graced by esteemed Guest of Honour, Dr. N.J. Muthukumar, Director General of the Central Council for Research in Siddha, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. Dr. Manoj V. Murhekar, Director of ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology also graced the occasion.
In his welcome address, Dr. N. Saravanan, Scientist E and Chairman of the Annual Day Celebration Committee, set the tone for the event. Dr. Srinath Satyanarayana expressed gratitude to the staff for their tireless efforts in advancing TB research and elimination. The Chief Guest, Dr. N.J. Muthukumar, lauded ICMR-NIRT's research endeavors and emphasized the potential for collaboration between his organization and ICMR-NIRT. He proposed exploring integrated solutions to combat TB, leveraging Siddha formulations as adjuncts to conventional TB treatment.
The event also recognized staff members who have dedicated 25 years of service to ICMR-NIRT, felicitating them for their commitment. Dr. R. Balaji, Scientist E, delivered the vote of thanks, and the ceremony concluded with engaging cultural performances by the staff of the institute.
