Seminar on "Tuberculosis: Health and Economic Impacts"
The Department of Economics, Vivekananda College, Madurai, and ICMR-NIRT, Chennai, jointly organized a seminar on March 24, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about TB's impact on health and the economy.
The seminar began with an inaugural session addressed by Dr. T. Venkatesan and Dr. M. Muniyandi. Two technical sessions followed, led by Dr. M. Makesh Kumar and Dr. M. Muniyandi, covering the origin, development, and basics of TB, as well as its health and economic impact.
A student paper presentation session provided a platform for participants to share their research on TB prevention and eradication strategies. The event concluded with a valedictory session addressed by Dr. A. Satheesh Babu.
A TB awareness rally was also organized in Tiruvedakam village, where 72 students carried placards with awareness messages, educating the local community about TB prevention and treatment.
