Awareness Programme Empowers Sanitation Workers in Agaramthen, Kanchipuram -2025
ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT), in collaboration with Madras Christian College (MCC) and Agaramthen Panchayat Office, organized a Tuberculosis Awareness Programme for 45 sanitation workers on 14 October 2025 at the Agaramthen Panchayat Office.
Mr. Ramachandran, Agaramthen Panchayat 8th Ward Counsellor, welcomed participants and emphasized sanitation workers' vital role in preventing tuberculosis through community hygiene. Dr. Karikalan Nagrajan, HOD, DSBR-ICMR-NIRT, highlighted their contributions to public health.
The programme featured a TB awareness Villupattu performance by Dr. P. Murugesan, Senior Technical Officer, and an informative session on nutrition and TB prevention by Mrs. A. Dhanalakshmi, Technical Officer. MCC internship trainees Ms. Dona and Ms. Merlin engaged participants through a street play on tuberculosis.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Devaki, Self-Help Group Leader of Agaramthen Panchayat followed by participants taking a pledge to support TB eradication, reaffirming their commitment to this global health cause.
