Commemoration of World TB Day 2025
ICMR-NIRT commemorated World TB Day on March 24, 2025, with a series of engaging events. The program began with a quiz competition, followed by games on TB awareness. Dr. V.V. Banu Rekha, Scientist F, Department of Clinical Research, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of World TB Day. The guest of honor, Dr. V. Vinod Kumar, Director, Institute of Thoracic Medicine, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in combating tuberculosis. He appreciated the Wings of Support initiative of ICMR-NIRT. The event also featured a thought-provoking TB awareness skit by the Nursing Staff, followed by a Villupattu performance by DSBR staff, which conveyed valuable messages on TB education.
Dr. G. Senthilvel, Director I/c, National Institute of Siddha, delivered a keynote address on "Nutrition and Health," underscoring the crucial role of nutrition in TB management. He also highlighted the importance of Siddha medicine in disease management. The program also included the screening of short films on TB, directed by the staff and students of various depts. of the institute. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, followed by a vote of thanks.
The World TB Day commemoration at ICMR-NIRT served as a platform to raise awareness about tuberculosis, promote education, and reiterate the institute's commitment to TB research and control.
