Dissemination Meeting on TB Elimination Study in Senapati District


A dissemination meeting was conducted on July 30, 2025, in Senapati District, Manipur, to share the findings of the collaborative study titled "An Innovative Approach to Improve Tuberculosis Case Finding and Treatment Adherence Through Engagement of Student and Women Organizations: A Step Towards Tuberculosis Elimination in Senapati District, Manipur". The study was led by ICMR-NIRT and NTEP Senapati.

The study outcomes were presented by the research team, comprising Dr. N. Karikalan, Scientist D, ICMR-NIRT; Dr. Stephen, Scientist C, DHR, New Delhi; and Dr. Linette Muanching, District TB Officer, Senapati District.

Smt. Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate, attended the meeting and appreciated the significance of the TB intervention study. She emphasized the importance of sustaining volunteer involvement in the TB program and district health initiatives. Smt. Doley also extended the district administration's support for continued TB research in Senapati District by ICMR-NIRT.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mattoo, Joint Commissioner & Additional Deputy Director General, Central TB Division, NTEP, participated online and provided valuable feedback on the project outcomes. He acknowledged the importance of community-led interventions in hard-to-reach areas.

Other attendees included Shri Rang David Kung, MCS, ADM, Senapati District, and Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Scientist G, CD, ICMR-HQ, who delivered a keynote address. Community volunteers from student and women's organizations in Senapati District shared their experiences in TB screening and patient support. Mr. A. Saloni Tony, President, SDSA, delivered the vote of thanks.

The meeting successfully disseminated the study's findings and highlighted the importance of community engagement in TB elimination efforts.
