Sensitization Programme on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Tamil Nadu
The Directorate of Public Health & Preventive Medicine and the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with NHM-TN, ICMR-NIRT and ICMR-NIE, successfully conducted a Sensitization Programme on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) on May 21, 2025, in Chennai. The event was attended by senior health officials and dignitaries, including the Principal Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu and Joint Secretary of the Department of Health Research, Govt. of India.
The programme highlighted the importance of HTA in strengthening the healthcare system through evidence-based planning and efficient resource allocation. Expert facilitators provided an overview of the HTA framework in India and its role in policymaking and health programme evaluation. State health officials proposed priority areas for HTA studies, laying the foundation for advancing HTA research in Tamil Nadu and fostering evidence-based health policy formulation.
