Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024 @ ICMR-NIRT
As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign themed "Swabhav Swachhta - Sanskar Swachhta", ICMR-NIRT conducted various activities from September 17 to October 1, 2024. The campaign began with the Swachhata pledge taken by ICMR-NIRT staff, led by the Director General, ICMR, on September 17 , 2024. Dr. Saravanan, Head of Biochemistry, delivered an enlightening talk, "Towards a Clean, Green World," on September 19, 2024, covering crucial topics such as air and water pollution, microplastics, and sustainable practices. On September 20, 2024, a community awareness program on cleanliness, personal hygiene, and pediatric nutrition was organized for Nehru Park Housing Board residents. Interactive sessions were led by experts from ICMR-NIRT and ICDS. On September 23, 2024, approximately 100 staff members, including department heads, administrative officers, scientists, and technical staff, participated in cleaning Mayor Ramanathan playground near the office campus. Throughout the campaign period, staff from various departments actively participated in voluntary cleaning of office spaces.On September 24, 2024, preventive health checkups were conducted for housekeeping and multitasking staff. The following day, fun games and activities were organized to appreciate their contributions. ICMR-NIRT's Vellore, Madurai, and Thiruvallur units also participated, planting tree saplings on their campuses. Awareness sessions on safe hospital waste handling were conducted for housekeeping staff at Govt. Rajaji Hospital Madurai and Govt. Hospital Vellore. The Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign culminated with a felicitation program to honor the housekeeping and multitasking staff with gifts and prizes. The most clean departments (Biochemistry, Health Economics, Virology & Biotechnology) and committed staff members received special awards. The Director presented the third prize awarded for Swachhata Pakhwada activities 2023 from the Department of Health Research to hygiene committee members.ICMR-NIRT's Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 initiatives demonstrated the institute's commitment to promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainability.
