Vigilance Awareness Week 2025
ICMR–National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR–NIRT), Chennai, observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 from 27 October to 2 November 2025 on the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” The week began with the Integrity Pledge administered virtually by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, in which 450 employees from Chennai, Tiruvallur and Madurai centres participated. The Director, ICMR–NIRT, addressed the institute and emphasised the importance of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in public service. As part of the observance, several awareness and engagement activities were organised, including a campus walkathon, guest lectures by the Central Vigilance Commission and former senior ICMR officials, and competitions such as essay writing, slogan writing, and a vigilance-themed quiz. Multilingual banners were displayed across the campus to promote the theme, and institutional communication platforms were actively used to disseminate updates throughout the week.
In alignment with CVC's outreach initiatives, an external awareness programme was conducted for MSW students of the Madurai Institute of Social Sciences on 3 November 2025. The event included interactive sessions on vigilance, ethical governance, and grievance redressal, along with a quiz competition. The awareness week concluded with an address by the Director, ICMR–NIRT, who urged all employees to uphold vigilance and ethical values consistently in their professional and personal lives. The observance reflected the institute's continued commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and a corruption-free work culture.
This course is conducted under the leadership of Dr. Leeberk Raja, Scientist - E and Principal Investigator of the Technical Resource Centre, ICMR-NIRT, and is co-directed by Dr. Jefferson Daniel, Associate Professor at CMC Vellore. The ICMR-NIRT acknowledges the significant contributions of the TRC team, including Dr Mukesh Kumar, Scientist-C (Medical), Dr Vignes Anand, Scientist-C (Medical), and Dr Adhin Bhaskar, Scientist-C. The event was coordinated by Dr Sharon Suresh, Research Associate at the Technical Resource Centre, ICMR-NIRT.
