Personal Statement

Growing up in a small Indian town with limited healthcare access, I witnessed my father’s struggle with rheumatic heart disease and developed an early interest in medicine. While others prepared for coaching exams, I spent my afterschool hours assisting my father in his workshop. I went on to study medicine in a government institution, where I gained early clinical exposure and refined my skills through teaching. At the Indian Council of Medical Research, my work contributed to national programs on rotavirus vaccination and tuberculosis. These experiences shaped my passion for evidence-based medicine, infectious diseases, and public health.
